ZuPreem® Supports the Betty White Wildlife Rapid Response Fund
Betty White will match up to $25,000 of all donations that assists in the care and preservation of wildlife in the Gulf
Shawnee, Kan. - ZuPreem has made a charitable donation to the Betty White Wildlife Rapid Response Fund, sponsored by the Morris Animal Foundation. The fund, established in March 2010, gives wildlife researchers timely monetary aid to respond to unexpected events, such as natural disasters and emerging diseases. A portion of the monetary donations will provide researchers with resources to begin crucial testing on dolphins and the long-term effects from the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Currently, about 160 bottlenose dolphins, spanning five generations, live in Sarasota Bay off the Gulf of Mexico. Early summer months are considered peak calving season for dolphins and it is critical to begin documentation that will allow researchers to estimate neonatal survival rates. While it's too early to predict the extent to which the oil spill will affect native wildlife, there is an urgent need to collect data for the dolphin population to better understand the situation.
"With the recent oil spill in the Gulf, it is imperative that ZuPreem stands by researchers dedicated to maintaining the health and wellness of all animals who call the Gulf Coast home. Betty White has been a strong animal advocate with the Morris Animal Foundation for 40 years and ZuPreem is proud to sponsor a fund that has her support and approval," said Gail Shepard, Director of Marketing with ZuPreem.
According to the Morris Animal Foundation website, actress and animal lover Betty White has supported animal health research that has improved veterinary medicine for companion animals and wildlife for nearly 40 years. Betty served has served as a trustee, and president emeritus, of the foundation since 1971.
Now more than ever it is important to preserve wildlife and to make sure future generations can appreciate and enjoy these animals. Thanks to Betty White and the Morris Animal Foundation, the opportunity is there. Join ZuPreem in sponsoring the Betty White Wildlife Rapid Response Fund or the Morris Animal Foundation.
