Three Generations of Giving Back

In 1928, Mark L. Morris Sr., DVM, founded the Raritan Animal Hospital, the second small animal hospital in the United States. Dr. Morris discovered that sick dogs and cats could be treated by changing their diets - changes that sometimes eliminated and sometimes added an element to their diets, depending on the condition or disease. At the Raritan Animal Hospital, Dr. Morris formulated the beginning of the Prescription Diet® line of products for sick dogs and cats. In 1948, Dr. Morris decided to give 5¢ of each can sold to continue the scientific research that bettered the livesof animals. Thus began the Morris Animal Foundation. The foundation catered to the needs of animal health and welfare. Dr. Morris passed hiscommitment to bettering the lives of animals through proper nutrition to his son, Mark L. Morris Jr. DVM, PhD.Mark Morris Jr. continued his father's work by expanding the Hill's Prescription Diet® line of products and later formulating Science Diet® productsfor the prevention of nutrition-related diseases in healthy dogs and cats. In 1968, the ZuPreem Exotic Animal Diet product line was added and once again, the Morris family provided products that helped maintain animal health and wellness. With each expansion, the Morris family never ceased in the mission to give back. The family's commitment to improving the lives of animals through nutrition has passed to the third generation. David R. Morris, son of Mark Morris Jr., now leads ZuPreem and the ZuPreem Future Generations Fund. “From the very beginning, we wanted to follow thefamily legacy of giving back,” said David Morris.Prescription Diet® and Science Diet® are trademarks of Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc.
